Ford Explorer SportTrac. When the Ford Explorer Sport Trac made its debut in 2000, it was a new idea. Based on the Explorer midsize SUV, it was a truck, with sport-utility characteristics, four doors, a short cargo bed and features to enhance the active lifestyles of its intended buyers. Since then, similar vehicles have followed, including the Chevrolet Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade EXT, and, more recently, the Honda Ridgeline.
