This is an update and adaptation of "Allentown" by Billy Joel. Allentown's theme is about the resolve of those coping with the demise of the American manufacturing industry in the latter part of the 20th century. "American Town" revisits this theme as American homeowners and families confront the collapse of the U.S. economic system brought about by greedy Wall Street speculators and corrupt politicians, often resulting in the loss of their jobs and the foreclosure of their homes.
