Toyota is famous as the first car company to release Hybrids upon the public, and their Prius has become a runaway success. But their non-Hybrid cars are still very fuel efficient, and none more so than the old reliable Toyota Corolla. With a mileage rating of 26 MPGs in the city and 35 MPGs freeway for the manual version and 27 city, 35 freeway for the automatic model, Corrolla is one of the most fuel efficient cars on the market, hybrid or not. And the sticker price for a basic, non loaded Corolla is a very affordable 15,000 dollars, more than five grand less than most new hybrids will run you. And think of it this way... it might not get the mileage of a Prius, but the lower sticker price and still relativley high MPGs might actually end up being the more economic choice until, and that's certainly true until you drive a more expensive Hybrid for years. An incredibly reliable car, the Corolla makes up for what it lacks in flash in fuel efficiency and dependability. So if you're looking for a car with very high MPG stats, a low sticker price, and you're not worried about driving something with a lot of flash and bling, then the classic Corolla might be your best option.
