A slightly random clip highlighting the worrying subtext of the British Government, 1997-present.

With ostentatious scandals beginning almost Day One, its bungling, naivety and loss of more than half the nation's private information it perhaps seems odd that there is a dangerous movement towards a controlled state of high surveillance, total knowledge and doublespeak.

British people have been off-guard, working hard for their mortgage payments, thinking that THE nation of freedom and free speech could never become the envy of Putin's FSB in regard to the amount and quality of state surveillance.

There is an element of the Emperors New Clothes here as well - who doesn't wish to believe their children are so much better than those who have gone before, that their £100,000 house has inflated in value to half a million?

Unfortunately the facts tell the real truth.

New Labour has pulled off one of the biggest con tricks ever seen.

This clip highlights the two biggest offences committed against the once British values of honesty and decency - values which underpinned our very existence.

The Iraq War, more accurately an invasion of a sovereign territory in order to secure oil supplies as well as showcase the US's military might.... and the installation of a breath-taking infrastructure of citizen surveillance. The Iraq War and uncontrolled immigration (another New Labour problem) provided the excuse that we weren't safe to go out of our houses without a camera recording our every movement.

Ignore the fact that the IRA bombed the City of London in 1996, and had been in a declared state of war with the UK since 1969 with numerous other civilian atrocities carried out on the mainland and in Ireland.

That prompted a few armoured Land-Rovers onto the streets, not an Orwellian number of spy cameras or the necessity for all details to be handed over on purchase of a railway ticket from Doncaster to Newark.

There are so many other appalling acts which have taken place on the back of all this 'government' - the Andrew Gilligan affair, Dr David Kelly, the highly physical expulsion and subsequent police detention (who invoked the Terrorism Act) of the old Labour German Jew for daring to shout out that Jack Straw was talking 'nonsense' at a Party Conference, the ex-Siberian gulag survivor interviewed outside BBC's Broadcasting House who said he could not believe what he had seen happen in the USSR in respect to news propoganda could be happening in Great Britain - the old guy was both upset and shocked - etc etc

At times I have to pinch myself this is really Britain. Where are the opposition politicians voicing these views? Rather ominously they don't exist if they stand any chance of future power, with the exception of Nick Clegg who says he will go to prison rather than accept an ID card.
