Kiva.org is an organization that helps entrepreneurs and business-owners in developing nations get started and make their business into a viable livelihood.
I donated $50 when I found out about it in 2007 and have since seen that small loan be repaid and redistributed to help other people three different times. They accept any amount and small donations toward the site and outreach programs to teach and guide the recipients of the micro-financing loans are welcome but not required.
