This is the main food I used to lose weight. It is an extremely nutritious food. Don't eat only oatmeal when you are dieting, that can be boring,my "diet" included lots of junk food. When you are dieting your goal is to eat a little less each day than your body needs. You have to be very selective about what you eat because your calorie count for the day is limited so you have to eat foods that give good satisfaction and is not quickly gobbled down.
Oatmeal! Why oatmeal? It is one of the foods that can be mixed with different quantities of water and still be satisfying. A person trying to lose weight must have a sense of satisfaction, otherwise the going is rough. Many times while dieting I felt very hungry. I was always happy to eat my next meal of oatmeal. If I felt hungry I could add lots of water and it would take a long time to eat.I added milk, sugar and raisins but everything was measured and weighed and the calories calculated. How can you call it a diet if you don't know the exact calorie content. I could read while I ate the oatmeal and the oatmeal seem to last forever, especially if I used a small spoon to eat it.
I was working in a bakery when I lost 50 lb. I was allowed to take home bags and bags of food so I needed something satisfying that was lower in calories and easy to weigh and calculate the calories.I gave away most of the bags of food I was bringing home(cakes, cookies, and meat filled buns.) Better that my friends get fat than me. There is nothing special about oatmeal except that it can be made thick or thin according to taste. I always used a measuring cup to determine how much oatmeal to use, I also use measuring cups to determine how much sugar, raisins and milk powder to mix into the oatmeal. If you are dieting you have to use measuring cups and spoons to measure your food. Otherwise, you will ALWAYS UNDER-ESTIMATE the calories of the food you eat. Humans LOVE to cheat when it comes to food and calories but thank God fiends, mirrors, eyes and scales NEVER lie. Always weigh and measure the calories in a given volume measure of food. For example a TABLESPOON of oil always has the same number of calories(give or take a few.) ALWAYS use a scale OR a measuring cups/spoons when dieting. I ALWAYS put EXACTLY 2 teaspoons of sugar in my coffee.
I love dieting. Nothing else has ever got my friend talking so much. They were in a state of shock to see someone they had known for years go from over 200 lb to below 148 lb. Some of my friends were saying I looked more pregnant than our friends who just about to give birth. I would be sitting in church and my friend would be silently indicating and gesturing from across the room how skinny my face and body had become.
When you diet you lose weight from all over your body but the weight lost from the face makes you look younger and more beautiful.
