A Singaporean film released in 2006, tells the story behind the Singapore dream, "The 5 C's". It follows a typical low class family in Singapore, sending their son off overseas to earn a piece of paper in the form of a degree in pursuit of him earning money to stabilise the future of the parents. He arrives back in Singapore only to admit that he never graduated and whilst the father is playing the local lotto, he strikes the millions and sadly dies due to a heart attack before the children can inherit and use the money.
Why this scene?
It shows two family members, the son and daughter, playing Mahjong with the son's girlfriend opposite him and their "uncle". They reminisce about their father and friend, the will, where the money will go and the 5 C's; "cash, credit card, car, condo, country club", while the uncle reminds them about the oft-forgotten "6th C" - coffin.. in the meaning that everyone dies sooner or later.
Eventually they remember the good times of their father, leading to the scene changing to the matriarch of the family crying over looking upon old photos of her husband and the one man she loved more than the world. This scene drives home the point the fact that even though he won millions it does not make a difference to the fact that he is now gone and will never return to fill that empty house with his personality and presence, that part of the bed at night, or open that door when he arrives home from work.
