Thank you for committing to Loud Shirt Day. Presented by Alessandro Sorbello http://www.alessandrosorbello.com
Loud Shirt Day
brings some real fun to your work day and at the same time gives staff the satisfaction of
knowing they are making a critical difference to the lives of deaf children.
Loud Shirt Day
provides an excellent opportunity for not only throwing out usual dress rules and wearing your
loudest, brightest or kookiest shirt, tie or socks but also gets your whole team together to
have some fun! So turn up the volume and have fun getting loud!
Set a date
The official date is Friday 16th May, 2008 and most people hold their event on that day but if
this isn't convenient, then pick another day that suits your organisation.
Invite people - Display the posters enclosed in your kit around the workplace, send an e-mail or put a notice
in your newsletter to ensure everyone knows about the day. Include information about our
charity and our important work with deaf and hearing impaired children throughout Australia.
Call or e-mail your local office to order more posters should you need them.
Plan extra fundraising activities.
Further fundraising ideas can be found on page 4. Planning activities such as a sausage
sizzle, morning tea and competitions can help to raise additional funds and make your day
even more enjoyable!
Dollar-for-dollar matching - Look into whether your company can match the amount of money you raise. Many
companies like to support their employees' fundraising efforts and may consider matching the
contribution. To help you approach your manager, we have written a letter as a guide.
Collect a donation - Collect a donation from all those participating (suggested donation $2). Get everyone
together to enjoy the extra fundraising activities you have organised and have fun. You may
even decide to fine those people who don't dress loud! We will provide you with stickers that
people can wear to show their support.
Everything you need to know! - What to do Before you hold loud shirt day! Return the money raised
Please fulfill your commitment by sending all money raised from the day to us by Friday 30th
May 2008. Alternatively, if you hold your event on a different day, please return the funds
raised not later than two weeks after that date. Refer to the paragraph below for how to return
donations.
Send or e-mail your photos
We'd love to hear what you got up to and could feature your photos on our website or in
future promotions. See page 4 for address or e-mail to: admin@loudshirtday.com.au
Let everyone know how much money you raised
There are 4 easy ways you can return funds raised to help get deaf kids talking:-
1. Simply fill out the enclosed deposit slip and visit the following financial institutions:-
Queensland Suncorp to make a deposit into the Hear and Say Centre account
Victoria xxx for Cora Barclay
South Australia xxx for Taralye
New South Wales xxx for the Shepherd Centre
Western Australia xxx for Telethon Speech and Hearing
(account details are included on the enclosed deposit form).
2. Send a cheque or money order to your local centre. Be sure to complete and
include the reconciliation form so we know who has donated the money so we can
recognise you accordingly.
3. Phone your local centre to make a payment by credit card, quoting your deposit
number.
Many organisations support their employees' fundraising efforts through dollar-for-dollar
matching to demonstrate that they also support causes that are important to their staff. We
are writing to ask whether your organisation would consider matching the funds raised by
your staff at their Loud Shirt Day.
Loud Shirt Day brings some real fun to a workday and is a great opportunity for your staff to
gain team spirit, while supporting a worthy cause. The money raised will enable the ongoing
support for deaf and hearing impaired children throughout Australia. Through our unique
family-centered activities, children learn to listen and develop spoken language so that they
may fully participate in a hearing world and in doing so, reach their full potential.
A minimal amount of government funding is received; the remainder has to be raised and we
therefore rely heavily on the support of the community and businesses. This is why we hope
you will consider matching your colleagues' fundraising efforts. All donations received as a
result of company matching are fully tax deductible.
Your contribution will greatly enhance the lives of many deaf and hearing-impaired children
Australia wide. These children are our future!
Thank you in advance to your organisation and to your colleague who is organising this
important fundraising event.
Yours sincerely
