At GeorgeBoards we have taken the multi hours long process of "Hog-ing" out the body of a GeorgeBoard Lap Steel Guitar down to a 18 minute procedure.
The Router we use is a precision 10 horse power CNC -- called a Motion Master.
This 100k dollar tool is very dumb with a great memory and a lot of backbone.
It has the ability to handle 8 separate tools and do it's thing over and over with no getting tired , -- dosen't need to smoke a menthol, doesn't forget something and need to do it again, and so on.
At 10 horse power it can blast through a -- 2" thick piece of wood like butter.
This baby is smart enough to speed up and slow the feed rate , speed up and slow down the RPM ,
It can reverse direction -- travel sideways and down or up all at the same time.
The cutting tools we use range from .060 thousands of an inch in diameter to a full 1 inch in diameter.
When people gripe about paying 400 bucks for a lap steel -- we just laugh and say "I use 400 dollar drill bits".
At another precision Laser Cutter we have the Lucite L plastics etched and the cover plates for the controls cut to exacting tolerances.
GeorgeBoards has invested 140 thousand dollars in numerous re do's and finite adjustments of these robotic tools to arrive at a Superlative level of precision and consistancy in our products. It is worth it.
At GeorgeBoards we belive in -- Proudly -- MADE IN USA !!
Yes -- we could go to the orient and get labor for pennies on the dollar - cut corners - hire illegals - do all of the corporate tricks in the book that deny american jobs.
No -- We will not compromise Quality Control just to shave a few bucks off of our products.
Quality Pays -- Not Costs.
