The Best MSL Ever!!- 720 10-23-08

Bookmark and Share
The first 6 months or so that I worked at Waste Connections I was a swing driver- which meant I would cover or assist different routes everyday, or run a route for a driver on vacation, sick, etc.
After that I took a route, and have been running this route for 5 years now.
My assigned truck started out as 706- I drove it for less than a year and jumped at the oppurtunity to take over 702- a much better truck in my opinion.
After that I drove 720, one of the best MSL's ever made in my opinion. I dont have any footage from when I was the assigned driver of that truck because that was at least a year or two before I discovered that all you people liked garbage trucks so much!
I didnt start filming until after I got 734.
Anyway, 743 is at the dealership to fix some electronic bugs but it has been alright because I havent been stuck with one of those wretched International/Mcneilus spares, I've been driving 729- which is the same as my new truck only its a 2003 Mack/Mcneilus, so its a little older.
On the day in this video 729 had sprouted a hydraulic leak, and the guy who currently drives 720 had just finished his route and came and switched trucks with me so I could finish mine without the wasted time of going to the shop or waiting for repairs.
So, this is 720, my former route truck. Its definately showing its age and isnt as fast as it used to be but I still think this is the best MSL design ever, out of all the trucks I've seen.
You could drive a car into that hopper- it eats furniture and mattresses with ease, anything you can throw at it.
And with that 36 yd body you can pack anywhere from 12-15 tons easily.
Mcneilus doesnt make em like this anymore, and its hard to get parts, so unfortunately this truck will probably be put out of service after its next major breakdown. I had intended on getting alot more hopper footage than what you see here but my camera was having issues, even though the battery had a full charge it kept shutting off, so alot of what I thought was recorded was lost.
Despite this I'm glad to give you all the chance to see this truck in action, it might be the last time you ever see it!
