John Russell provides a brief introduction to some of the more pressing issues of concern to voters residing in Florida's 5th Congressional District.
Trying to keep things short, John Russell discusses briefly his position on the red herring that is Ginny's promotion of Big Oil Carte Blanche off Florida's Gulf Coast. But who is owned by the oil companies? Not John Russell ! John wants to permanently solve the energy problem first by a phased re-deployment of the U.S. military out of Iraq which would save American present and future taxpayers $12 Billion dollars per month plus interest paid to Chinese and other asian creditors. The financing of the Iraq war on a credit plan with the Chinese has greatly diminished the value of our American currency compared to other major world currencies making imported commodities like oil significantly more expensive. While drilling is not going to stop anytime soon, John recognizes the foolishness of ceding control of our oil supply in one fell swoop while they already control tens of millions of acres of leases that they have not even touched.
John stands by the rapid commercialization of alternative energy sources and fuels that are technologically feasible right now, that will with an objective focus move this nation rapidly on a path toward energy independence.
John also briefly mentions his plan to enact legislation that would provide a National Health Care Plan that would still allow one to keep private insurance if a person preferred to do so, while offering others an economical choice for affordable access to care for every American if they were denied coverage or were unable to afford usurious premiums.
John also discusses his firm position on ensuring mandatory funding for the Veterans Administration.
Our servicemen and women swear a solemn oath to this country to protect and to serve their countrymen when they put on the uniform of this country. Yet when it came time for our Representatives including the current incumbent Ginny Brown-Waite to swear an oath in return to ensure that the V.A. was no longer a political football always in need of funding our congress including Ginny Brown-Waite stepped away from the table and did not swear that oath.
The economy of the 5th Congressional District is reeling from the economic downturn exacerbated by the district's over-reliance on residential development and housing and the threat of hurricanes has been left without recourse. John discusses the tremendous benefit that Florida would reap were his National Catastrophic Homeowners Insurance Plan to be enacted. John's plan would level the playing field and protect people across this nation from the massive natural disasters that we have seen in particular across the mid-West just in the past year.
The status quo is no longer acceptable. Yet we all know that Ginny though she may try to say once again that she has "evolved" will not change direction no matter the peril before her. Nor will Ginny distill a solution for any of the problems afflicting the working people, retirees and Veterans of Congressional District 5. She will just keep right on going head down into the wind.
In 2008 however the voters of District 5 have a choice to turn away from the status quo... To turn away from politicians that have prospered finger in the wind who prevailed previously by "Going Along to Get Along."
John does not play such games. So if the path that has gotten us where we are doesn't look so good anymore with gas, food and housing through the roof and job prospects going the wrong way as well then please support and vote for John Russell who is "Running to Serve You... NOT The Powers that Be!"
