In some parts of our nation, many Americans live without the benefit of a financial institution. They cash their paychecks at stores or check cashing outlets. They get loans from predatory lenders or loan sharks. They live without the hope that they'll ever be free from overwhelming debt. More stressing, they live without the dreams of a better tomorrow.

the difference a credit union can make. In many of these same neighborhoods, credit unions are opening their doors for the first time. They bring with them basic, fair financial services. They treat members with respect. They offer classes to help members to understand the ins and outs of personal finance. They encourage members to save...to dream. They change peoples' lives.

stands behind these credit unions helping them deliver needed services to members. Each year, the Foundation makes grants to credit unions and supporting organizations all over the nation — setting in to motion millions of dollars to fund worthwhile projects that carry out its mission of consumer financial independence through credit unions. Some grants help credit unions provide financial education. Others help members improve their financial strength assisting them in asset accumulation. Still others help the un- and under-served by increasing access to credit union services.
The video(s) you are about to see tells the Foundation's story. It features three credit unions that are making a difference for unbanked and underserved members. The program also tells how the National Credit Union Foundation operates and what it does for credit unions. You'll meet national credit union leaders and find out why they support the mission and programs of the Foundation.
