Making Niger Our Business is a humanitarian aid project that was founded September 2005 by marketing students at the Telfer School of Management and Mr. Guy Laflamme, professor of Ottawa University and Vice-President of National Programming, Communications and Marketing for the National Capital Commission (NCC). In the summer of 2005 the existing hunger crisis in Niger became aggravated and an estimated 2.4 million people were directly affected. This devastating crisis that has overwhelmed the Nigerian population was the source of inspiration for this aid project. The goal of this project is to support the long term development of Niger and to reduce the impact of the food crisis. The fund raising activities started in the national capital during the month of November 2005 and have continued since. Thanks to the experience of Mr. Laflamme and the creative minds of the marketing students at Ottawa University, Niger has so far received $250,000 of medical equipment and more than $25,000 in money which will be used to aid several different projects throughout the country.
