On Friday, August 15, 2008 at approximately 11:05 pm the Pomona Police Department received numerous calls advising of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian to the front of Scoreboards Sports Bar.
Arriving officers found the victim on the roadway of Temple Ave. who was suffering from major head trauma. The Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived and immediately began treating the victim for her injuries. The victim was subsequently air lifted to USC Medical Center in grave condition.
Preliminary information suggests that the victim had just left the sports bar and was walking westbound across Temple Ave. As she reached the southbound lanes of traffic, she was struck by vehicle #1, a 1990 Honda Accord, which was southbound on Temple Ave. The driver, Jose Mariscal, then fled the scene.
Driver Mariscal was later stopped by the Ontario Police Department and was identified by witnesses as the driver of the Hit & Run vehicle. The Pomona Police Department responded and took the suspect into custody.
The dynamics and cause of this collision are not yet known and are being investigated by the Pomona Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
