http://whitehouse2.org/ We can't just deliver our priorities to Obama and be done with it. We all know that's not going to be enough. Even the items already on Obama's agenda will require a lot of work from people like us, and not just before inauguration day, but ongoing, day in and day out.
I want to make whitehouse2.org a place where we can take that next step. Here's how I'm thinking about it. Think of all the functions that the White House performs, and try to imagine how we could do that completely democratically with thousands of people over the internet.
Things like:
- setting the national agenda
- building consensus internally around a proposal
- convincing the media and the American people our proposal is the right plan
- pushing individual senators and representatives to vote for a bill
And think of the different jobs in the White House: legislative director, press secretary, speech writer, budget director, etc. If you were to take their job and do it on a website openly like this, how would it work?
I'll be implementing new features constantly bit by bit, so you can post your ideas at any time (and look through others) here: http://feedback.whitehouse2.org/
