HHO Experiment #1

Bookmark and Share
I have been seeing people on the Internet, and some on the news, that have been making HHO, or browns gas from water, to use as a fuel source. Having done my experiments with used cooking oil, and having success with that, I have decided to embark on the quest to make a car run purely on water.

Here is the first experiment; a proof of concept, that turned out to be a good preliminary test.

The cost of materials for this project was about $13.00, so not bad.

I would guess the HHO generator could probably run a moped, but it is plenty large enough to show proof of concept.

The electrodes are made of stainless steel blots, nuts, and washers. The electrodes are insulated from the mason jar lid by grommets. I got the grommets at the auto parts store, and the rest at the hardware store.

I am using plain tap water, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bucarbonate) as a catalyst for the reaction.

DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME! IT IS NOT SAFE! I have to say that, and I take no responsiblity for your safety if you are fool enough to try this.

Having said that, this thing can give many hours of life threatening fun, and can make a lot of unsafe explosions.

In fuftre experiments, I will make a larger unit, and will run tests using an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine). This may or may not work, and may or may not destroy this car, or it's engine, so do not attempt this on the family car! You should always consider safety first, and if you have a spare car to experiment with. I am using a car I bought specifically for these tests, and if it breaks, I just get into my other car.
